Abigail Box Office Beats Universal's 2 Disappointing 2023 Vampire Movies In Week 3

Abigail, the horrific story of a ballerina-turned-vampire, pays homage to Natalie Portman's Oscar-winning horror film performance with one of its best scenes.

Abigail, directed by Ready or Not's Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, is a reinterpretation of Dracula's Daughter in which an unlucky group of kidnappers become stuck in a haunted home with a seemingly innocent little girl who turns out to be a murderous vampire.

Abigail has been hailed for putting a new, humorous take on the old Universal Monsters concept.

Although it hasn't been a tremendous box office success, Abigail is unquestionably destined to become a cult classic in the future since it's so entertaining.

While Abigail is largely an homage to the Dracula canon, based on a little-known Dracula spin-off, it also pays reference to other horror films.

One scene in particular, with the titular undead ballerina, is reminiscent of Natalie Portman's Academy Award-winning modern horror classic.

During Abigail's dance performance, the eponymous vampire performs to Swan Lake, a renowned ballet by Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky

This is not the first time the beautiful songs of Swan Lake have been combined with unsettling images to create a horrific horror film experience.
