Booger McFarland Accuses Falcons Of 'Wasting $100 Million' At NFL Draft

The Atlanta Falcons made one of the most contentious moves in recent memory by selecting No. 8 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft.

They chose quarterback Michael Penix Jr. with the pick, establishing their quarterback of the future.

The only problem? They recently signed current quarterback Kirk Cousins.

Cousins signed a four-year contract worth $180 million with the Falcons in free agency last month, and the team did not inform him that they would choose a quarterback.

The choice has been heavily criticised since last week's draft, and ESPN's Booger McFarland is definitely not a fan.

During an appearance on NFL Live, McFarland discussed his concerns with the Falcons paying Cousins and choosing Penix around one month apart.

"Both of these picks make sense, but they don't make sense together," McFarland remarked, recognising the importance of protecting the present while planning for the future

"I don't care how many times Adam [Schefter] mentions debating it; there's no arguing going on. This was a horrible choice.

This was a poor choice for the following two years until Michael Penix Jr. onto the field. And if he gets on the pitch before the next two years, it will be a waste of $100 million.
