Ja Morant won't play tonight against Phoenix Suns. Why? Jan. 7 Grizzlies star status

Due to Ja Morant injury, the highly anticipated Sunday night game between the Phoenix Suns and Memphis Grizzlies will not feature any superstars.

The dynamic guard will miss his second game this season after serving a 25-game suspension at the beginning of the campaign.

Ja Morant is reportedly recovering from a shoulder ailment.

Although the extent of the damage is unknown at this time, there don't appear to be any immediate reports, thus it appears to be a temporary problem and nothing to be concerned about.

In addition to Ja Morant, Steven Adams, Brandon Clark, and Derrick Rose are not participating.

Luke Kennard replaces Ja Morant in the starting lineup, joining Bismack Biyombo, Marcus Smart, Desmond Bane, and Jaren Jackson Jr.

Ja Morant last absence from a game was on December 28 due to an illness.

The Grizzlies have won six of the nine games that Ja Morant has participated in this season.
