Randy Travis' first song since 2013 A stroke impaired his speech and singing.

After nearly 11 years without speech or singing due to a stroke, Randy Travis released a new song Friday.

Travis teased the release of “Where That Came From” earlier this week by previewing a song excerpt and a recording process video.

Travis watched the studio musicians without singing.

“Eleven years ago I never thought I would be able to have a hand in music production of any kind,” Travis posted on Facebook a day before the release.

“But by God’s grace and the support of family, friends, fellow artists, and fans, I can create the music I so love.”

Travis released further videos of him previewing the song for friends and family, some of whom became tearful, before its Friday release.

The Dallas radio station New Country 96.3 KSCS debuted the tune on “Hawkeye In the Morning” Friday.

When asked, host Mark “Hawkeye” Louis was unsure if the vocals were recorded before the artist's stroke or generated using AI.
