Taylor Swift Is Not Attending the 2024 Met Gala to Focus on European Tour Date

PEOPLE can confirm that Taylor Swift will not attend the 2024 Met Gala.

Despite predictions that she might attend, the singer, who released her Tortured Poets Department album on April 19, is missing fashion's biggest night.

Instead, she'll be concentrating on rehearsals and tour preparations for her Eras Tour, which will resume on May 9 in Paris before going around Europe in the spring and summer.

The Met Gala, which typically takes place on the first Monday in May, will be held on May 6, which would have been a tight schedule for Swift, 34, before of the tour.

TMZ earlier reported that Swift and her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, would not be attending the Met Gala this year.

Swift has already attended the coveted event six times (the most recent in 2016), whereas Kelce is yet to make his debut.

The Grammy winner has had a busy few weeks since the publication of The Tortured Poets Department, and she is about to embark on another tour.

She has topped the Billboard chart (again!), had her album reach 1 billion Spotify streams in a week, and emotionally shared great evaluations of her work.
