Taylor Swift's 'The Tortured Poets Department' Breaks Global Streaming Record First Week

The Billboard charts have seen Taylor Swift break, re-break, and extend multiple records this week.  

According to May 4 charts, The Tortured Poets Department is a global phenomenon with astronomical U.S. sales and streaming totals  

he deluxe version's 31 songs had the largest global streaming week since the Billboard Global 200  

which tracks consumption in over 200 territories, including the U.S., started in September 2020.  

Luminate reported 1.76 billion streams in the week ending April 25 after the album's April 19 release.  

Swift's new album breaks her Midnights' global streaming record. The then-20-song deluxe version album streamed 1.16 billion times in October 2022.  

With nearly half a billion streams, those songs helped, but she would have surpassed the record with the original 16 songs  

which had 1.27 billion first-week global clicks.Over 31 songs, Swift averaged 56.8 million streams per song, trailing Midnights' 57.8 million.
